Description
This course covers concepts in geometry, including measures, proofs, and parallels. It examines the propert of congruence, as well as polynomials. This course can be applied to the use of geometrical concepts in real life.
Objectives
Including, but not limited to:
1. Use technology and manipulatives to discover number patterns involving geometric concepts.
2. Determine whether pen and pencil, mental math, or calculators are the bestmethod for performing manipulation of primes, factors, multiples, and exponents.
3. Investigate and solve problems of standard and non-standard measurement and determine reasonable results.
4. Apply and explain formulas relating to perimeter, area, and volume.
5. Using a rectangular coordinate system, apply and algebraically verify properties of two- and three dimensional figures, including distance, midpoint, slope, parallelism, and perpendicularity, with and without technology.
6. Sove concrete and real world problems involving geometric concepts using patterns and functions.
7. Understand the concept of variable, expression and equation; is able to translate Englis phrases involving geometric concepts and sentences into algebraic expressions and equations, and vice-versa.
8. Solve real-wold problems using a system of two first-degree equations and inequalities in two variables.
9. Investigate experimental design involving geometric concepts using more than one variable; analyze and interpret results.
